Before the journey begins, individual UUs and UU congregations are invited to:

• Learn about the people and organizations that Rev. Sinkford will be visiting with.
  
• Participate in the "Propose a Question" contest, and cast a vote in the current poll (see blog sidebar).

And, be sure to make plans to join Reverend Sinkford in one of the three live and interactive Sunday School Webcasts during his journey.

On November 4, 2008, Reverend William G. Sinkford, President of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), will begin a 15-day pilgrimage to visit six African countries: South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria.

More Information about the Pilgrimage

The goals for Reverend Sinkford's pilgrimage include:

* to meet with old and new colleagues among the Unitarians and Unitarian Universalists of Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and South Africa,

* to learn from the experience and wisdom of leaders in Truth and Reconciliation work in South Africa, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu,

* to learn from leaders of social justice and human rights organizations involved in diverse struggles, including: LGBT Rights, Fair Wages, HIV/AIDS, Women's Rights, and Socially Responsible Investing,

* to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site and symbolic center of the Atlantic Slave Trade: Île de Gorée.
